Nothing wrong with the Hotel, but the area has gone a bit scummy.
Not really a prostitute area, they tend to hang out in lower Arcadia. The area went to the dogs about 10 years ago. It's over populated as i. Lots of unemployment, loitering and unreported crime in the area, and it is dirty.
You will get lots of good reviews on tripadvisor. One in our group was robbed another one was attacked with a needle from a drug user. Now if you can't leave your car on the street, you shouldn't really be walking there either. If you do stay there, use the free shuttle in the 5 km radius ummm, why do you think they offer it? If you want to visit Melrose house m away, and you want to take your camera along, take the shuttle, and take it back as well.
It;s not that something will happen, it's just that it could. All the info you probably want has probably already been posted on TA, just do a search on the threads in what you are interested in.
